“What attracted me to Tube Lines was the fact that because the organisation is seen as a centre of excellence in transport and the fact that there is such a huge and varied knowledge base within the staff means that for an undergraduate this is an excellent opportunity to learn from the best in the business.”

“For an undergraduate Tube Lines really offers something different. The knowledge and skills that can be gained from staff right across the organisation have been of remarkable benefit in terms of my own professional development.

“Since I joined Tube Lines I have worked in Premises, Civils & Minor Works where I deal with various assurance issues. From day one I have been involved in a multitude of different interesting projects including Stratford Station Upgrade for the Olympic Games 2012.

“Due to the fact that Tube Lines is a centre of excellence, the undergraduate training scheme reflects this in many ways. There is a high level of training given right from day one and although the work can often be challenging it is also very enjoyable and rewarding. I have attended many courses including asbestos awareness, Site Waste Management Plan, Construction Design and Management, and Go Green Environmental course. All my training was easily organised, some after review with my line manager, who pointed out possible areas for development. I have also attended external exhibitions which gave me a fantastic platform to launch my career.

“There are all sorts of reasons to recommend Tube Lines as an undergraduate employee. For one thing, there’s a fantastically open, relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the office. Although there are deadlines to meet, it’s still a really calm place to work.”
